From 2003-2009, I ran a small business building electronic devices on a custom-order basis for musicians around the world. The projects ranged from adding an expression pedal jack to a completely customized synthesizer. I also designed some circuits for small effects pedal companies. All in all, there are probably a few hundred devices with my signature scribbled in Sharpie somewhere on their case. This page shows some of the more interesting projects I completed. Click on any of the thumbnails in the scrolling box below for information, images, soundclips, and videos of each project.
The Parallel Universe
The Parallel Universe is an extremely versatile fuzz-overdrive with self oscillating, gated, and synth-like capabilities. Four different modes of operation allow for a wide range of tones. The distortion's character can be tweaked by a gain knob, tone knob, and frequency knob for when the Parallel Universe is in self-oscillate mode. There have been two production runs of Parallel Universes, one in 2004 and another 2008. The most recent edition of the Parallel Universe has an added gain stage, footswitches for different mode combinations, and expression inputs for both oscillation frequency and gain. To get a better idea of what the 2nd edition Parallel Universe is and what it sounds like, click here. Information about the first run can be found here. There are also a number of custom Parallel Universe builds out there, some of which can be seen below.
